Training the next generation of Vermont democratic leaders and organizers
Formed in 2023, The Balint Organizing Corps (BOC), is a paid opportunity for Vermont youth to learn about grassroots organizing, political changemaking, and electoral campaign work.
In 2022, Congresswoman Becca Balint became the first woman and first LGBTQ person to represent Vermont in Congress. The Balint campaign set out to change politics: From the ground up, with courage, kindness, and a healthy dose of scrappy. Our organizers had thousands of conversations with Vermonters, recruited hundreds of volunteers, and organized in every county in the state. We built a community of people dedicated to Vermont, and built grassroots power that enabled a queer middle school teacher to become Vermont’s first congresswoman. But big cultural change doesn’t happen with just one campaign, or one election cycle. We need to keep showing up and doing the work every year, in every community.
We need new decision-makers at the table, and that starts with the folks who work on campaigns. During Becca’s historic 2022 campaign, young Vermonters from every county worked on our campaign and are the reason Becca became a congresswoman. BOC trains the next generation of organizers so that we can elect the next generation of leadership in Vermont.
